I had to learn Lightroom from scratch as I’ve always been a Photoshop guy.
So, I resorted to books. Outside of structured video courses, books are the best way to learn, in my opinion.
Because I have a background in Digital Imaging I didn’t want an Idiot/Dummy book, or a large reference book. Lightroom has a very simple Develop module, in my opinion. It’s learning the workflow and metadata side of Lightroom where the hard work is.
I got lucky with my first blind purchase – Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC/6 – The Missing FAQ – Real answers to real questions asked by Lightroom users – By Victoria Bampton.
The other Lightroom books don’t measure up to this book by Victoria Bampton. Even, if you are a complete newbie to Lightroom, this book is all you need. The book has a fast track section for new users. And being an FAQ you can dip in and out of subjects quickly. The Amazon reviews alone will tell you that this book is highly rated by those who own it.
I believe the book post dated Victoria’s website and forum. So, I believe the book was crafted by the questions on the forum. I strongly recommend you join her forum, which can be accessed here. If you purchase the book, you’ll be entitled to a premium membership
In conclusion, there’s one book I recommend – Victoria’s.
I not associated with Victoria in any way, other than the fact she lives relatively close to me in the UK.
